Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum

The Way We C It

Dr. Nicholas Perricone is undoubtedly the most recognized dermatologist on the planet, but does that make him the most qualified to create an effective Vitamin C eye serum, or just the most marketable? Do you remember when Jillian Michaels, the trainer from The Biggest Loser, came out with her own line of diet pills? If I were looking to lose weight, that’s who I would trust. Hello, have you seen her body? She certainly knows a thing or two about weight loss!  Miss Michaels was quickly BLASTED for putting her name on some of the worst diet pills to ever be created. They turned out to be total garbage, and I am sure Miss Michaels was well aware that she was producing a mediocre product. She was also aware that her good name would equal a LOT of money. It goes to show that everyone has a price!

It is hard to tell if these “famous” professionals are honestly trying to provide their devout followers with quality products or if they are more interested in making a quick buck.. The only way to find if a product is good or not is by looking at the ingredients, or trying it out for yourself. Let’s take an in-depth look at what is exactly in Dr. Perricone’s  $50 Vitamin C serum before we pull out our wallets.

Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum Ingredients

  • Cyclomethicone: A silicone used to deliver a silky texture without an oily residue. It is used as a base solvent to blend with fragrance oils.
  • Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate: One of the most effective Vitamin C derivatives that works to stimulate collagen production in people who are resistant to Ascorbic Acid.
  • Squalane: An oil derived from olive pits, wheat germ or rice bran. This non-comedogenic oil is  readily absorbed due to its similarity to the skin’s own sebum.
  • Tocopheryl Acetate: Also referred to as Vitamin E, Tocopheryl Acetate is one of the most powerful antioxidants and protects  your cells from free radicals that cause pre-mature aging and acne.
  • Bisabolol: Derived from Chamomile, one of the most skin soothing ingredients, Bisabolol forms an anti-irritant shield on the surface of the skin
  • Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil: Regulates healthy pH balance
  • Tocotrienols: A form of Vitamin E that is 40 times more powerful that traditional Vitamin E.
  • Ethoxydiglycol: Decreases viscosity (stickiness)
  • Tocopherol: Prevents UV damage, sun damage and photoaging.
  • Ascorbyl Palmitate: A fat-soluble Vitamin C derivative
  • Dimethyl MEA (DMAE): DMAE stimulates muscle tone, increases contour, and tightens and and lifts sagging, wrinkled skin giving you a smoother complexion instantly. DMAE results only get better with time.

Conclusion

Dr. Perricone is far from being a sell-out, unlike other celebrities who try to profit off of their fame, Dr. Perricone produces quality products that are in harmony with his teachings. Dr. Perricone has been educating the public for years about skincare and has taught us that we are what we eat, and our skin is a reflection of our over-all health. If our we look 20 years younger on the outside, biologically we are younger as well. The cause of our aging is microscopic inflammation, and by consuming antioxidants, healthy protein and avoiding refined sugar and high glycemic carbohydrates we can help prevent premature aging. In fact, he claims that aging is optional. With the help of a healthy diet, moderate exercise, a good nights rest, and high quality topicals like DMAE, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Vitamin C Esters we can fight wrinkles, and other age related diseases.

Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum is an effective Vitamin C Serum, in fact it is one of the best. There are a few things I don’t particularly like, one being that this product contains fragrances. I have ultra sensitive skin so I try to steer clear of fragrances altogether to avoid skin irritation- especially on my face. While this product has an impressive ingredient profile I would have liked to see it contain other ingredients that Perricone talks about so much, like Alpha Lipoic Acid. ALA is said to be 100 times stronger that Vitamins C and E. ALA also prevents and repairs existing scars and wrinkles by up to 90%! I think he may have dropped the ball by forgetting this important ingredient, although it is included in a number of his other anti-aging products.

I will conclude by saying that we highly recommend Dr. Perricone’s Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum. Is it the best? No, but it is really close! Compared to other Vitamin C serums it is very well priced, but be aware that it does not come with a satisfaction guarantee.
